Rhodri's professional journey began in rugby before transitioning into the property and real estate industry.
Following his rugby career, he trained and qualified as a financial advisor, working for one of the UK’s largest mortgage and protection advisory firms. This laid the foundation for his later career in property management, and following an opportunity to manage a Penzance-based lettings agency with over 450 managed properties, this sparked his passion for the industry. During his tenure as a manager, he gained extensive experience in rental valuations, advertising, tenant sourcing, and tenancy setups.
Building on this, Rhodri transitioned into property sales, managing a Penzance-based sales office for several years. Here, he developed expertise in property valuations, market dynamics, and effective property advertising strategies. To deepen his knowledge of property management, he later became a regional manager for a large national letting company. In this role, he gained a comprehensive understanding of legislation, compliance, and strategies to protect and enhance landlords' investments.
Recognising the importance of a deeper technical understanding of property, Rhodri trained and qualified as a building surveyor. He became an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a RICS Registered Valuer, further expanding his skillset in valuation and construction.
After more than a decade of gaining experience across all aspects of the property rental and sales process — from valuations and marketing to compliance and management— Rhodri founded the McAtee Property Group. The company aims to deliver a professional yet approachable service that leverages his extensive industry expertise.
Hannah, Rhodri’s wife, also plays a key role in the business. With a professional background in the accountancy sector spanning over a decade, she brings valuable financial insight and organisational skills to the company, further strengthening its foundation.
